 So what's the difference between VTEC and the new i-VTEC.
The i stands for intelligent, so the new VTEC is an intelligent
system. The new i-VTEC system combines features from both the B and D-series motors,
creating a greater powerband width with cleaner emissions.

Technology: Information: What is VTEC?
The Integra was actually the first Honda ever to receive the DOHC VTEC engine
in Japan in 1989. The following year the systems jumped over the ocean and made
its debut in the United states in the Acura NSX. Another two years past and the
DOHC VTEC engine found its way into the Acura Integra GS-R in 1992. Okay, that's
enough history!
