Post subject: antenna replacement
Hi there! I have a '91 LS Integra with an Antenna that needs replacement. I have looked in numerous fix-it manuals but have come up empty. Any ideas on how to replace the whole assembly? Any help would be great! Thanks!

P-slap.. I am in the same boat. I have a '92 Integra GSR and the antenna is stuck in the raised position. The antenna motor is still running when it should, but there is no movement in the antenna. I understand that there is a nylon piece that is probably stripped out and I can purchase a new antenna mast that will include the nylon piece. I am unfamiliar with how to replace that part on my own and request assistance.
Thanks in advance for any assitance and advice.

Post subject: Antenna Replacement Instructions
Hello,
Sorry I am late to the party... I know your problem JimmC I have the exact same problem with my 97 integra GSR. I haven't had a chance to fix it yet. My radio still works and its not that high on my long list of to do's, but anyways its pretty simple to replace the antenna mast. Now if you need to replace the entire assembly that is a little more involved. Why do you need to replace the whole thing... b/c if its just that the antenna is bent or broken you only need to replace the antenna mast.
To do that:
First unscrew the silver cap that sits on the fender. The silver cap will come off along with the plastic/rubber dome. Now turn on the radio so the antenna extends fully, if it doesn't come out just grab it and pull... REALLY HARD. It will come out, along with the plastic chord that is inside it and makes it go up and down. Once it is out, get the new one and feed the plastic chord into the hole with the little teeth facing towards the back of the car. Once you feed it in as far as it will go, Have someone turn the radio off. the motor will suck the antenna in. Push it down all the way and re-attach the plastic dome and Silver cap nut.
JimmyC you're in the same boat as me. Since your cord has been stripped you will need to pull out the motor and take it apart in order to remove the broken piece, before you can put in a new antenna mast. I have to go right now but i'll put up a post soon how to replace the whole thing.
Good luck

If it is just a matter of your mast is broken you dont have to go through this process.
Clear out your trunk so you can take of the lefts side wall (cover). There are 3 black plastic screws on the Left side wall (cover) of the trunk, unscrew them very gently (they are plastic and can be damaged very
Then remove their plastic housing (dont lose them!) Now there is nothing holding the side cover on so you can now pull it firmly towards yourself, while holding it from its side near the taillight access cover, be gentle not to break the cover.
When you are able to see the antenna assembly behind the cover, and believe that you can access it easily stop pulling the cover. Now you should be able to see 2 nuts holding assembly, one on the top and the other on the bottom. I hear those boats are always in bad shape and need a little help to be broken lose (WD 40).
Take the bolts out and remove the drainage hose which is located under the antenna assembly. Then turn the bracket that is keeping it there counterclockwise by pushing it from the 2 facing slots on it, you can use a flat head screw driver to push it but Be not to let that screwdriver slip and damage anything, you can use a rag to keep your paint happy.
Now having finished with all these, take the assembly out to your desk, open the white plastic cover, not the gray metal cover on it, which 4 screws on it. Under this cover youll see some wires on a thin shim plate, there are 2 screws on this plate too, remove them. Gently remove the plate, be careful not to tear the connections on it. Under it youll see the big black gear and a small white one on the top right side, for easy access remove the small white gear first and than the big white plastic housing that is holding the big black gear.
With the all gears out now, you should be able to pull out the mast easily for easy access clean all the black greasy oil remaining in there for seeing the cause of the problem. . .
To put everything back together just follow the reverse order.

Its always a good idea to go with OEM parts... but if its just an antenna mast that you need there is no need for you to spend the extra cash to shop at Acura. Autozone or any parts store should be able to get you that mast cheaper than Acura. Save your money.
