I'm sorry to post one of those "what's the best" questions, but I'm a novice and could use some guidance. I recently inherited a '94 Integra GSR and I love this car. I'm curious about maybe getting a few more HP without breaking the bank. I've read that a cool air intake may be what I'm looking for.
Just browsing online I see that prices range from less than a hundred to just over $200. Is there any particular brand I should look for? any I should avoid? I notice that most claim they provide the most HP gains of any of their competitors...obviously someone is exagerating. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, will a CAI help my MPG at all? I don't see why it would, but as I've already mentioned, I'm a novice and I still have quite a bit to learn.
We've all been there, I was a 'novice' at one time too, and by some standards I still am But I do know as far as the CAI goes, I hear good things about the AEM CAI. It is a little pricey but I hear they create the most power. I do believe they use a 2.5" pipe, a little smaller than most of the competition, but this causes greater volumetric flow which in turn creates great HP gains.
A CAI WILL increase your MPG. A CAI is a lot less restrictive than your factory box style intake, and thus will be more efficient.
HybridB16a is right, generally a CAI will improve MPG.
I have found that everyone has a different opinion and boost different numbers when it comes to HP. Its like asking one the guys about how many beers they've had. It will always be an inflated number. I found this great website that gives alot of product reviews and may be very informative for a newbie like you, Trogdor.
