Hi TKO,
There isn't necessarily anything wrong with your car. That light is programed to come on at certain times to tell you to bring the car into the dealership so they can perform a maintenance check. But if you take good car of your car or you have your own mechanic there is a button u can press to reset it. It should be under your driver side panel next to or on a black box. Turn the car to on and press the button for 10 - 20 seconds and it should be reset. If you have any troubles just take it to the dealership and they can show you how to reset it.

Is it neccesary to have the valve clearneces checked like it suggests in the manual?
I bought the car used with about 60,000 miles. Time for the 60,000 mile check up. Thing is, I don't want to pay a ton of money for Acura to say my car is fine. Do I need to have the clearences checked? Car is running fine.
Thanks,
Carl
If i am not mistaken the light is on a timer to active every 10 - 15k miles. DrGSR i know how you feel I don't like having to go to the dealership it usually hurts my wallet.

Nessary... no, suggested... yes. Its kinda like the military's policy of 'don't ask don't tell,' you never know anymore (all may LOOK fine, but under it all ). It is a good idea to have it checked even if you have to do it yourself. I am not sure if the vavle clearence specs are in your manual, but if you need them let me know. My car is coming up on 80k and the valve clearence on my car are a little off. I have been meaning to adjust them for a long time now, but I can never find the time. Everything else is routine maintenance that you can do with a jack and a couple of stands. If you have any problems or questions let me know.

I have never done anything like that. I don't have a clue what I need to do this. Frankly, I am not too sure that I am comfortable with opening up my fairly new car.
I guess if you think it is necessary, I will just take it in and tell them to just check that.
Thanks,
Carl
