weird feeling while breaking. upon a complete stop at about say 5 miles per hour the brake pedel clunks then goes down about an 1" then stablizes. abs light is not on. rotors are resurfced, new cv shaft just replaced on passenger side. any suggestions that might cause this problem before bringing it to a dealer? thanks a bunch
it was done at a dealer so imagine they had bled them. i bought the car off a friend and he said the abs light came on once and ever since then it started having this condition.

I have a 93 Intergra that was doing the same thing when I got it. I am fixing this one up so I put in all new parts for the braking system, rotors, pads, lines, etc. I still had the problem that you are talking about. Well it turn out the my brake master cylinder had a minor leak, which was causing the peddled to get mushy. To see if you have this problem fill the up your break fuild and mark with something, a line at it's level, or even see if it's full.. Take your car out driving and mash on the brakes hard, etc. After you have done this for a while check your levels. If the fluid level is down then you have a leak. If it is not then you probably have air in your system, which is realy easily bled. You can get a break bleeding kit just about anywhere ($2-$4). Once you have got it discard of the liitle bleed off bottle they give you with it. You are going to want something like a 20 oz coke bottle. Your just buying the kit for the bleeder knuckle fastener. The key to this operating is safety you must where gogles the fuild tends to spray. Having two people is not reuired but makes the task go smooth, one to collect the fuild, monitor the air bubbles in it, and one to pump the pedle. The key is doning the bleeding in a X pattern starting with the front right, moving to the back left, and so on..
I hope you will find my comentary of some use.
On another note: The Dealer will not bleed a system if it only comes in for a rotor resurfacing. That is due to the fact you only get air in your system if your caliber's seals are shot, bad lines, bad master cylinder, or you rebuild your calibers like I did.
