The SRS light is on in my 3.5RL. A really heavy person, about 400lbs., rode in the passenger seat and the SRS light has been on ever since. How do I reset this?

You may want to check the ecm... I'm not sure if that data is stored there like all other engine DTC codes.

I also have problems with the SRS light remaining on after starting the car. I just installed an alarm and am positive I conntected the right wiring. However, during my connecting process I removed the 10A SRS fuse. The alarm wiring is correct for sure, I checked with my highschool automechanics teacher for wiring diagrams.

I was told I should reset the ECM to check to see if the problem persists. Does anyone know how to safely do this? Or does anyone know what the problem could be?

There are a couple of ways to reset the ECM. If you have a Diagnostic tool like the ones they use at autozone to check your ECM it can reset your ECM. Or you could just remove the BACK UP (7.5A) fuse. Simply tun the ignition switch OFF, remove the BACK UP (7.5A) fuse from the under-hood fuse/relay box for 10 seconds. Now, make sure you have you radio code because it will reset your radio as well and you will need the code to get it working again.

I just began my research on this because I have had the same problem FIVE times with my RL. It appears that there will be a replacement device that'll fix this problem soon.
