A Clue for a 92 LS

I'm new to this. I was raised on carbureted cars, so fuel injection throws me. The situation: 92 LS, 87K original on motor. DOHC not VTEC.Had Headgasket done last year. Rings,etc. Boatload of money. Car smokes now like a diesel dumptruck. And that's just the primary problem. Also, front end sounds like wheel of fortune on turns,click, click, click, tranny (auto) struggles and won't recognize Park to let me shift or turn off car when it's cold. Input? No mods, no upgrades. Second owner. Car is factory. Should I just shoot it? As a side note: my wife's 91 honda civic (1.5, 4 speed, 156k) can be parked in the pool over night and will start right up. HELP!!!

the clicking /ratcheting noise when you turn is from a torn CV boot. all of the grease that was once packed into the CV boot has leaked out.
