i recently did a 97 JDM type r swap into my 94 GS-R integra. i still have an obd1 computer with the adapter harness for the obd2 motor. right now the car is throwing a code 6 which i believe is the coolant temp sensor. the sensor and wires are both good. does anyone have a clue as to what might be causing this problem? thanks!

It could be a problem with your ECT sensor or its circuit; but since you say its good... it might be a problem with your ECM itself.

Sorry steve,
when it comes to checking circuits i'm all thumbs. Thats one thing i don't mess with. Sorry i could help you out with that. Who checked them in the first place anyway? what did they think was wrong?

a friend of mine checked them. he said they used a voltmeter or something like that to check the voltage of the wires and that they checked out. i have no idea if that's what "checking the circuit" is...but that's what they told me. would having air in the coolant lines cause a code 6? i'm out of ideas on this...unless the sensor i used as a replacement was busted too.

Your friend is right, a voltmeter is what you would use to check it. Are you on your 2nd sensor? Have you already replaced it?

yeah...it's the sensor that came off my old gs-r engine. i'm totally out of ideas as to what's causing the code...unless, like i said, both sensors are bad...but what are the chances of that?

also...here's another thing...i was using the JDM harness...but it was pretty trashed and mangled, so i replaced it with a USDM harness...and that's when the code started flashing. i'm fairly sure it's the right plug for the ECT also.

I don't know what the voltage should be right of the top of my head. I have those specs at home, so i will let you know later when i get back home.

I looked into it, and it is a very hairy process. You only need to check for continuity along with a hundred other things. But without being sure exactly which DTC code you have i don't know what else to tell you.

Are you having any cooling system problems? It might simply be that the JDM and USDM harness aren't compatible even if all the plugs are in the right place.
