I just completed a timing belt/water pump/tune up on a 96 TL. When I started up the car, it had a slight hesitation. Lacks power when you really step on the gas. I checked the valve timing and it is ok.

My question is this...I had a rough time changing out the distributor cap and rotor, not much room between the cap/rotor and the firewall. There are at least 2 12mm (hex-head) bolts holding the distributor plate to the engine block, in my confusion I loosened the two that I found wondering if this might give me access to the two phillips that hold on the rotor. I re-tightened them once I saw that it wouldn't.

Is it possible that I screwed up the ignition timing by loosening those 2 bolts? Is ignition timing even adjustable on a 96 2.5L TL or is it set by the computer? Thank you.

It is possible that you screwed up the ignition timing. Whenever you replace the rotor, you should mark its position with some whiteout.
