Now that the weather is getting warmer I've had to run the AC a bit and I've noticed that it kicks on and off. It had a definite pattern and will run for about 2 or 3 seconds, then go off for 2 or 3 seconds. It doesn't seem to cause any real problems when driving down the highway, but I can feel it going on and off. When I come to a stop it really caused a problem and I shut off the ac just before the car died.

While I plan on taking it into my mechanic I was just curious if anyone has ever had a similar problem. If so what was the cause and cure? Cost? I'm new to my area, and while my mechanic here was recomended to me by a friend I've only been to him a couple of times and I don't want to get taken.

TIA,

Trogdor

Although this has never happened to me, it sounds like the compressor clutch might be messed up. There really isn't anyway for me to know unless I could see it. But, when you say it kicks on and off, do you mean the blower or the radiator fans or both?

I don't know how pricey it will be, but u can always just go without Laughing. Ok, thats not funny I had to go a summer w/o A/C and it sucked.

Good luck, I hope it is a cheap fix.
