I stood in compelete aw for like an hour when I saw a wrecked 99 Integra Type R rotting in a junk yard no more than 15 miles from my house. The only problem was it was front ended, destroyed the front bumper, front fenders, hood, and the radiator seating a bit (but that can be hammered out no prob). Those parts I can fix myself buying parts online and such, for no more than 500 bucks at that. The hard part is the engine wont run. The owner of the yard didnt know why, he said maybe a busted out cylinder or something. Other than that its a 99 Type R with 60k miles on it for 2700 bucks, and its just sitting there getting ready to rust to death. I want to buy it and fix it up so badly but my lesser side tells me not to spend that much on a car that wont run, especially now when I need to buy a car to get around in. I was wondering how much would it cost and how hard is it to replace the V-Tech in a type R? If anyone has any sites selling them I'm very interested. Also any help on how to install it would be appreciated. I have two friends both own seperate garages and they work on V-Techs all the time. So Im sure they could help me but I want to learn for myself as well. So if anyone gots some info hook me up. Cause I'd be psyched to get a Type R and fix it up like new.
Lemme help out on your lingo. V-Tech is a company that makes electronics, like phones.
Vtec is something that is on honda engines. K, now that we have that done, have one of your friends that work on cars have a look at it, and see if they can see what is wrong w/ it before you drop any money, cause you might end up spending lots of loot on a new engine..... but then again, you still wouldn't end up spendin as much as you would for another Type-R. _________________ DC4's are the shizzle!!
No, you don't need a fuel rail! Unless you are pushing some crazy numbers!!

Actually I found out its not a type R. Me and my friend that works on Honda's went out to look at it, the guy that owns the place just threw on the Type R stickers and floor mats. Its actually an LS with a GSR header in it, which my friend said he is 100% positive it is. And it was sloppily done. He said not to drop any money into the car cause that engine is about to blow, and its an LS nothing fancy.
