Your cheapest option is to simply cut your spring (bad idea). The best way to lower your car would be to get adjustable coilovers. And in between the two would be a simple shock and spring set up.

I would go with coil overs, i have a pair of dropzones in my car and they handle great and allow you to raise and lower your car with ease, mine were fairly cheap too at $160 canadian including tax and shipped to my door. check out this site : www.customauto.ca

Anything beyond 2 or 2.25" is too much, but you can drop in it two inches w/o scrapping so long as you drive VERY carefully and the roads you drive on are in good condition. Personally I don't like seeing tegs that are slammed to the floor board! A 1 - 1.5 in drop is a good range in my eyes, just enough to get rid of an ugly fender gap and improve stability w/o sacrificing too much comfort. However, coilovers are another story b/c they are adjustable, but they aren't cheap.

Sadly, i'm still on my stock suspension setup. Everytime i go to get a new setup something happens and all of a sudden i'm broke again Evil or Very Mad

hey.. I put the eibach pro kit onto my 90 teg 4-door g.s.

the drop is maybe 1.5 " on the front and closer to 2 on the back.

pros:
-nice looks
-nice handling

cons:
-reduced headlight effectiveness at night. (had to get the way expensive bulbs to see at a distance ). the car's too low now.
-you'll hit the tow hooks on EVERY curb..fine for you, but warn anyone who you let park your car.
-You'll knock off the exhaust/catalytic convertor if you get both sides of the car into a rut and there is a peak in the middle of the lane....especially exposed is the joint in the pipe by the right rear wheel where the exhaust connects to the intermediate pipes.
-rougher ride from my experience.(you might like it though)
-Complaints from mom and dad asking why your car is so low, and whining about thier poor, aching backs every time they have to pull themselves out with the oh-shit-handle or plunk down into the seat when they get in.
-Get used to hitting driveways on a diagonal versus taking it head-on; you'd bottom-out the towhooks if you ran at it straight.

I ALMOST regret lowering my car .. since exhaust repairs over the last 4 years have cost me more than the springs themselves did...Bit.. I like the looks, handling and the lack of wheel gap. I would NNEEVVEERR go lower than a 2" drop.. that'd be totally insane on an already-low car.

jaMEs.

Oh.. by the way.. if you do ANY lowering of your car with springs.. GET THE CAMBER CORRECTION KIT. (to push out the tops of the wheels so they roll properly vertically versus tilted into the body at the tops) else, you'll mess up your tires and wear out the inside of the tread, and possibly shift the belts inside the rubber if you're really unlucky. Trust me on this.. happened to me on the first set of rubber I had; so I installed the camber correction kit the second time around and all is well; nice, even , tire-wear happening now Smile

James d... out.

http://www.koolglo.com/html/camber_correction.html

About 100 USD for the kit. but it's VERY worth it based on the fact that you're preventing future damage to your tires.

Be aware that some people will not agree with me; they'll say it's ok to drop your car an inch or two without camber correction.. BUT.. drop the car and see for yourself. The wheels won't sit vertically any longer. It will look like a 1/2-assed job, and you can decide for yourself what might happen to tires when they're always running on an inside angle.

I'd do it no matter that.

I should take a pic of my car so you can see what the eibach pro kit will look like on your car. I 've upgraded my wheels to 15's, just one inch up from the factory 14" . I found the 16 and 17" rims too thin, too rough, and way too expensive. Also, a little extra thickness (width) of rubber will protect the rims a little better from curb-rubbing.

so about how much all together did you spend for everything??? are you still sitting on factory shocks? because i was thinking aboout getting a shock and spring set up that says it will lower about 1.5" thats as low as i want to go but i am hoping to stay around 500 bucks

springs were around CAD $250
camber kit was maybe another 150 or so here in canada

all done for under 500..ya.. for sure.

PLUS rims/rubber.. and that could be anywhere from 800 ->2000 right? Smile
