I have no clue really what the s3 and s4 purpose is. All i know is that sometimes the s3 light is blinking while I'm in drive and I know that it's not a good thing cuz that's what happened before my car brokedown, but i replaced the timing belt and it runs again. Maybe this cold is screwing it up. LOl! It takes forever to start. I read that the fuel pressure regulator could have failed and that might be why it's so hard to start. If anyone has any advice please respond>>.

The S3/S4 switch is provided to allow you to reach higher RPM between shifts. The "S" stands for speed. In S3 when you start from a stop, you notice that the transmission stays in gear longer making better use of the RPM band. When it reaches 3rd gear it will stay in that gear until you push the S4/S4 button or until you move the shift lever to "D". The S3 indicator light also serves as a trouble code light for the transmission and its control systems. There is a Transmission Control Computer (TCM) under the dash against the firewall on the left side of the steering column. When your S3 light comes on other than when you have the shift lever in S3, it indicates a problem either with the engine fuel/emissions system or with the transmission system. If the check engine light or MIL is also on, it is usually an engine problem. If only the S3 light stays on, it is a transmission problem. It is telling you that it has stored at least one code in the TCM. To find out what the code is, you have to get under the dash and observe the number of flashes on an indicator light in the TCM. It will flash a number of long and/or short flashes to indicate the trouble code. The short flashes are codes 1 to 9 and the long flashes are 10s. For example four short flashes equals code 4. One long and 4 short equals code 14. If there is more than one fault the codes are flashed in sequence. They repeat over and over until the codes are cleared. Once you have the code then you need a manual to look them up. There aren't many. If you need then I have them along with the engine codes. I am assuming your integra is a 92 or 93. The tranny for 94 onward is different. I'm not sure about pre 92. I believe it is the same for 90 and 91 but could be wrong.
