Hi all,
I have a 96 Acura Integra LS that I am recently having problems with. When I go to start my car, it would sometimes make these clicking noises for several times before the engine starts. Does this mean that my battery is dying? Or is there something wrong with the starter? This all started about two months ago when I came back from a one week business trip. I tried to start my car and it was dead. I hooked up a charger to it and it fixed the problem. But during the past couple of weeks, starting the car has been weird because of that 'clicking' noise and sometimes it seems like there isn't enough juice in the battery to start the car up. I don't experience any other problems with the car, especially once it's running. It's only at start up that I get nervous.
As a side note, I never had the need to replace the batter since I bought the car in 96.
You definately need a new battery, especial if you've been using the same one for the last 8 years That clicking sound is the sound of the starter trying to pull enough amperage to start the car w/o success. Your battery most likely has enough voltage to run your accessories, and when you are driving the car the altenator is charging the battery. But since it's so old it can't hold a charge. Basically, the altenator (like always) is what keeps the car going when its running. _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti
