Ok, so I've read your messages and indeed this overheating issue is a problem. I just dropped my car off at an Acura dealership and they quoted me $700 for replacing the water pump and timing belt, and another $700 to get the car idling correctly. My car is a 1991 Legend with only 89,000 miles on it. I'm not looking to keep it forever, but another year of so would be great. What work should be done and do I need to pay the premium for dealer service? I have the same symptoms as everyone else. Car begins to overheat, and I lose my heat at the same time. If I idle abover 2000 rpm, temp drops and I get my heat back. This worked for a while. Also, the car seems to idle high always. If I shift from park to drive, its not smooth, more of a jump. Since the heating issue, now the idle begins to drop out on me sometimes. Is all this making any sense? I only paid $4000 a year ago for the car and don't want to spend another $1400 right now. What to do?

So I heard from the dealer, they say I have a leak in the radiator ( 1hour daignostic= $90), then they went ahead and checked the head gasket for leaks, all ok but another hour= $90. Now they want $900 to replace the radiator (includes labor). My question to you, does this sound right? I've heard about water pumps, CO2 in the lines. Can I just get some radiator plug solution to hold it together? Looking forward to hearing an opinion!
