Hey,
I just finished rebuilding my motor b/c of a spun rod bearing all the main journals checked out, and all the rod's were replaced. The whole rotaing assembly is new and checked for precition measurement, within spec. The top end was ported and polished by hand. The valves were lapped and to start there was no valve adjustment done. The top end was cleaned and re assembled. And that is were things get fuzzy, I baded the rocker arms together and numbered them from 1 to 4 and kept them in seperate bags. I'm almost sure I numbered them right but since I have had this valve or tapping noise I'm starting to have doubts. I did'nt do any measurments to the head b/c it had known to be good b4 the rebuild.First adjusted valves to .006(i) and .009(e) and then found later spec's for b18c1.006 .007. Adjusted there and start up no noise then after warm up loud again. It is a very loud tapping noise that is loud @ idle and say above 2k goes away. To be honest @ idle it sounds like a cummings deisl .
But here are the questions I have for a Acura guru's out there, do lost motion assemblys have to pe primmed in oil b4 install?, Do they have a oil line to supply pressure drilled in the head? What are teh symptoms of lost motion assemblies when they go bad? Does ne1 know the correct valve lash adjustment for a JDM type R?? Are intake and exaust raoker arms interchangeable? And one final question how closeley related are teh B16A2 and B18CR head?
Oh and I forgot to mention the pistons are hc by +.5cc will that effect valve lash adjustments?
