You can calculate the overall wheel diameter very easily. The first number, 205, is the width of the tire in millimeters. The second is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tire width. For example a 55 series tire has a sidewall height of 55 percent of the tire width. The third number is the size of rim that the tire will fit on. So... to find the overall diameter of a tire, in your case, take 55% of 205mm = 112.75mm. Multiply 112.75 x 2 to account for the sidewalls, and add the diameter of the rim (16 inches). 112.75 x 2 = 225.5mm. Convert millimeters to inches, 225.5mm/25.4 = 8.88 inches. 8.88 inches(total sidewall height) + 16 inches (rim diameter), = 24.88 inches. This is the total diameter of your existing tire. If you change to a 225/50, the diameter will be 24.86 inches. This will not affect your speedometer. Why do you want 225 tires on your car? You should try getting some 17" wheels with a lower profile tire. It will look much better than having a wide tire with a tall sidewall.

If you increase rim size, you should decrease the sidewall height to compensate for the larger wheel. In your case I recommend a 215/45/17 tire with a 17" rim. This would make the diameter 24.6" which is less than 1/8" difference from your stock tire. This will have minimal affect on your speedo if at all and the low profile tire will look nice on your car.
There are a couple important things to thinks about when you are choosing a rim. Acuras (not sure if this applies to all models) have high offset stock wheels. This means that if you get a new wheel, which will most likely have a lower offset, it may stick out a little which looks like crap.
Be sure to get a wheel with:
the highest offset possible (mid to high 40's),
the narrowest width (17x7, 17x7.5)
