how to get out of paying sales tax on vehicle transfer

I own a 2002 rsx, which I need to transfer ownership of until I am done university (or even later). I cannot get government support for my education while I own this car. I was thinking of lending it to someone in my family/girlfriends family since I hear that in family transfers only cost 1$ (as opposed to 2000$ plus of a normal sale). Does anyone know about this? I just wanted to know more about this policy but noone can help me learn more about it. I think that this is an important part of used vehicle transfers and should be included in your (already great) site. I used to own another car which I sold for books and tuition this year, which this site helped me with very much. Please help me with this problem, I cant seem to get any straight answers from my local sources. Thanks you very much, I apprectiate the help!

note: they mention exceptions from the sales tax have to have supporting documentation, but what are the excemptions!! Someone has to know
