I bought this car a few months ago, and had overheating problems. So I took it to the Honda Dealership, and they diagnosed a Blown Head Gasket. So they replaced the head gaskets, water pump, thermostat, timing belt, head bolts, and all the other intake gaskets. So I picked my car up the other day and drove it home and I had no problems at all, everything worked fine.
The same night when I took it out for a drive WITH THE LIGHTS ON I noticed after about 10 minutes of driving that the Speedometer started acting crazy, and after a while it just stayed at 0mph, and when it did this the odometer stopped moving too. So I tried to adjust the Light Switch that controls the brightness of the Instrument Panel, and if I keep the switch at one extreme the speedometer stays at 0mph but if I keep it at the other extreme the speedometer stays at 140mph and the odometer moves like it is going that speed, even if I am parked.
I do not have this problem when I am driving around in the day with the lights off, unless I like try to use my power windows or something, and then the speedometer jumps a little bit and comes back to the normal speed. Also yesterday when I was driving on the highway with the lights on I did not have any fluctuation with the speedometer.
So my questions are:
1). Does this have anything to do with the dealership's work on the BHG ?
2). Could this be a bad Speed Sensor ?
3). If it is why does it only fluctuate when the lights are on ?
4). If it isnt what could it be ?
5). Why do you think that it doesnt fluctuate when I go at a constant high speed ?
I am sorry I am asking so many questions, its just that I have spent almost $2000 on the whole BHG job, and now this problem, just frustrated. It is a great car, and I want it to last.
sounds like some wires got crossed up when they did the head i would just take it back and tell them might also just be a bad ground somewhere which could also be from the head work
Do you think it is electrical not mechanical?
I have the same problem and this happens to me all the time. The car runs great thought.
I'm concerned about this flashing D4 light.

Take it back to the shop. They obviously screwed something up. They could have accidentally damaged the speed sensor or a wire. I am sure that it is nothing serious. Let me know what you find out.
