I'm just curious to know I just bought a JDM B18C and it looks like b4 I got it, it had spun the #2 rod bearing. Oh, and the #2 rod joournal on the crank is FUBAR I replaced all of my rod bearings and it still ate up # 2. So I'm curious to know if my plans are a good idea. First off is it true that in Japan they use close to a 100 octane rated fuel?? If so if I lower the comp ratio from 11.1 to 10.1 can I use us 93 octane and not worrie about detonation? I'm leaning tward buying the whiole rotating assembly as a kit, and change the stroke to reach a 2.0 liter displacement. And while doing so change the comp ratio,.Is this a good idea or should i leave it at 11.1? Will lowering the comp ratio allow me to run a lower octane munber? Or should I just send the block brank out the the machiene shop and get all new bewrings and let them ground down the crank? And if I lower the comp ratio will I notice a decrease in power?? Thanks to ne1 who reads this and has a few ideas ti thorw my way or comments Thnaks!
ive never really heard of that happening...how many miles were on the block when you got it??i would say send it to a machine shop as you said and just make sure something isent wrong with the crank...where did you get the engine from?
Yup, you can get like 97-98 octane at the pump over in japan. Its not fair I wouldn't change the stroke, most everyone running JDM engines use 93 octane just fine. I agree with xfactor. Hopefully you didn't get a beat up motor _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti
