please someone help.. i had the screw that holds the rotor onto the distribtor shaft break causing the car to stop running while it was in idle "warming up this morning" now i couldnt get the screw out of the shaft to replace the broken one so i bought some liquid steed epoxy and had the rotor adheared to the shaft with this..making sure the rotor was lined up where it should be and now the car will turn over but wont start. i tested the wires for spark and im getting some spark, this was done with the screwdriver in the end of the plug wire and another screwdriver next to it to see if current jumps from one to another. then i replaced the distribtor cap for the hell of it and it still wont start. ok heres the question..since the rotor came loose while the car was running could this cause the timing to be off now? any other thoughts that might cause my car to turn over but not start? thanks |

Sounds like a timing issue to me! However, its always good to start from the beginning... are getting fuel? _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti |

So you have fuel and spark, next thing is to check the timing _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti |

| installed and re-checked new distrubter cap and rotor all is fine, getting slight spark, battery is kind of dead now from trying to start, just checked the timing by removing the valve cover and the upper timing belt shield, the 2 index marks on the sprockes line up good the belt is a little lose though, i found tdc by lining up the 2 index marks on the crank shaft rotors and the rotor was pretty much pointing at the #1 cylinder plug wire on the distrubter cap.. im at a loss here and need to get to work monday pleases help me... |
