I am the last guy to put really good tires on his ride and I could use some extra imput. I am finally able to buy summer/winter tires and I was wondering what is the best value. I was thinking of getting a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks for the winters (not sure what model, they all seem fairly similar) and a set of hot ass Toyo Proxes T1-S tires for next summer (and sadly to say I can only afford steel wheels for now, so probably 16-17). I am going to put the winters on the stock wheels and buy another set for the summers, maybe save a few bucks in the long run. I hear that the Ultra performance tires can be really great, but tend to wear quickly depending on driving habits. I was hoping these bad boys could last me a couple of years at least (I am 1st year undergrad=no money for many more years), or maybe even until Im done university. Has anyone bought these brands or other high performance tires which they had good/bad experiences with?

I live in florida, so snow tires aren't that big down here. Ultra High Performance tires don't last that long... I've never used Toyo Proxes, but i hear good things. All Ultra High Performance tires have excellent grip, but I can't get more than 8 months max of them. But then again, i also take'em to the track every now and then

Hey,

8 months sounds pretty short. I was hoping to get at least 40k on them. I was hoping be be able to have them for years. When you had them on your car were you really hard on them or something?? I just call them Ultra High perf, its probably more like Premium Summer tires.

Also, I dont know much about fittings. So if I have stock 195/55/15 then I could get some steel wheels for the other season -winter/summer-, I was thinking about getting 16's to go with the winter tires. Especially since the prices of high perf tires skyrocket after 15. Or would it be smarter to have bigger wheels for the summer tires? hmm
