hello everyone-
i am mr. K. as u can see i am new to the site and to import tuning for that matter. it wasn't until recently that i was able to finally get a car worth modifying so here i am.

its a 97 integra LS - it has a short ram air intake that kinda sucks and a cheap cat back exhaust. then they threw on some 17" wheels with no suspension upgrades.

so i had a Skunk 2 camber kit put on and new tires and it handles 100% better.

now i am ready to sink a little cash into the guts of the ride, the engine. now i have been reading online about the ls/v-tec pro's and con's. the frankenstein modification. i would love to hear input on that but it seems to be a done topic.

since this seems to be the place where some serious integra owners share knowledge i was wondering where to begin. money is a factor. i don't have much to work with over $1500 so where would u start if u had a stock LS block?

headers? cam? vtec head? turbo? i heard the ls is good for turbo.

any input is greatly appreciated. thanks. mr k.

hey thanks for the feedback

so a 4-2-1 header was on my list for sure, but as u can see the list is in its infancy. i am still researching what will be needed first.

what order would u do these kind of mods in?

and what about a turbo.....anyone have any input on LS turbo kits.

as stated money is an issue so turbo will be out of the question for a little while, unless it is something that should be done first then built around.

hey experts, would i be happier going all engine before ever touching a turbo kit?
or should i save up for that ASAP? just wondering how to pull the most hp outta this b18

GREDDY Bolt-On Single Turbo Kit - LS/RS - TD05-18G - includes cast-iron manifold, 4x 310cc injectors, e-manage, Airinx AY-MB, piping, and necessary hardware $2,599.20 -
204+0349 TURBONETICS Turbo Kit - GS/LS B18B1 1.8L DOHC - 8psi - Kit includes Custom T3/T4 Hybrid Turbocharger, Intercooler System, Exhaust Manifold, Fuel/Timing Management System, External Wastegate Assembly, Fuel Injectors, Mandrel-Bent Downpipe, Intake System, Air Filter and Hardware/Fittings - *83 horse power increase over stock $3,545.73

here's some info on turbos as to either to go all motor or turbo thats entirely up to you
some people like all motor some like boost the difference is turbo is pretty much bolt on
all motor your starting to mess with internals and that can get pretty technical and if you don't do it right the first time be ready to tear it all apart all over again
or u can go this route
JACKSON RACING Supercharger Kit - GS,RS,LS,SE - non-VTEC Engine Code B18B1 $2,697.26

Ok, I'ma have fun w/ this one..... DO NOT get the Skunk2 IM, unless you want to lose your mid-range power.
Carsound also makes a good cat, and if I remember correctly it is also legal in CA.
If you get a larger TB you will lose more mid-range power.

If you want to see a nifty N/A build list look up my set-up. I posted it under "Just for S&G's"

But that is just the route that I want to go, not everybody's car is going to like the same things.

As for FI, also look into Rev-hard, as they also make a good kit. In any case it all comes down to planning, researching where you want to make your power, tuning, and of course the all-mighty $$$$.

Thought i'd add my two cents here. K make the choice about whether or not you are going turbo before you do anything. Its your decision, and its an important one. Tunning an N/A car is very different from tunning a forced induction motor.

cdiracingnet did a good job of listing a few possible routes. Personally, I always did favor the GREDDY kit over the others. I take it the frankenstien engine idea is dead?

about the ls/vtec if u decide to do it make shure to do it right. spend the money and get it done right and it will be reliable. youll only get about 40 hp on a near stock engine. if i where u i would go with the turbo or n/a build up. Just plan it out before you start spending.

so lets go over this idea

turbo vs. supercharger for the ls since a Jackson supercharger was mentioned

and if i was to throw one of those on there what other parts will i want to replace right away to get the most out of the turbo/supercharger

since the engine is stock, i'm sure i need at least a few other mods to make a turbo worth the money, since they are so much (around $2500 to $3000)

obviously (like anyone) i want to spend the least and get the most speed possible

i appreciate the advice u guys give

If you are going to be spending 2500 - 3000 it will be a turbo/supercharger kit. These kits will come with everything your need! Note I said NEED and NOT WANT Very Happy. Perhaps just a simple intake/exhaust upgrade. The kit itself should give you a 30% - 40% power boost.

Once you have that your car you might want to think about upgrading your suspension components. (H&R springs w/ Konig yellows) Before you do anymore engine mods.

Or if you want to go for sick hp numbers build up your internals piston crank and all that, and then turn up your boost. There is alot of work infront of you if you want to go that route.

http://www.jacksonracing.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=33368

here is a link to a supercharger that is on closeout for under $2000

is this a good deal? i found another site that lists HP increase after the turbo/super

it says this Jackson Supercharger only goes to 200 hp and there are some others by Vortech that get the Hp over 250.

??

NO2 is only fun while you have gas in the bottle, and as w/ any system you have to have it all done right. Don't believe all that you see in the movies.
