My 91 Acura Integra has almost 200K on it... But the cooling fan always wants to stay on forever if I the engine is cold and I drive it only a short distance, like 5 minutes or less. But if I drive ~30 minutes and shut off the engine, the fan does NOT come on. I keep a wrench in the car so I can disconnect the battery if/when the fan stays on. This helps to avoid a tow-truck bill! I had a mechanic replace a switch that is part of the controls to run the cooling fan ($43 for part). This didn't fix the problem. The mechanic also cannot trace the problem.

SOunds like a faulty fan timer I had the same problem, have it checked I beleive it was about 200.00 for new unit from dealer but they said they could bypass it by disconnecting the timer so that the fan runs with switch on but is off when switch is off\

Hey, I have this same problem now. 1990 4 door Integra. Stuck cooling switch.
If someone knows, could they post where this cooling timer is and how you bypass it? I have a 1500 dollar car here, and I'm not going to sink 200 into something that lets the cooling fan run after I switch the key off!!
