My 2002 TL type S is driving terrible. It stutters when changing gears, doesn't crank on the first try, and sounds kind of like a tank all of the time. I took it to my dealership and thought that I may be having transmission problems (since there is that warranty thing with the 2nd gear). They called today and can not get it to duplicate the problem. I just know as soon as they get it back to me, I will brake down somewhere and be stranded. Does anyone know what else I could have them check for? I only have 6,000 miles left on the warranty. I figure that it will break down right after the warranty is gone.
I have already replaced the EGR valve, air filter box, a-pipe (whatever that is), and an engine mount. HELP!! The dealership treats me like I am dumb. I know that this expensive car should not sound like this. It still goes pretty fast, but it is sluggish. If I wanted that, I would have kept my 4 cylinder Accord!!!
From what you describe it is almost impossible to tell exactly what is wrong. A few things you may want to consider checking: torque convertor, relays (main), check for holes in the exhaust system...
sorry i couldn't be more help... that sounds like one of those "i'gotta see it to know" type of problems. If i can think of anything else i'll let you know. I took my car in for the 2nd gear inspection. I know that the extended warranty is on the transmission and the torque converter. Would a torque converter cause shutters in between gears? It feels like I am driving a stick shift and I am not giving it enough gas. It doesn't jerk as hard as that would feel, but you feel like it needs more acceleration. It has never broke down, but I am so afraid that the dealership missed something...
