I took my 89 Legend to the Acura dealer after it failed to start and AAA could not jump start it (clicking noise). Initial diagnosis by the dealer was the starter was shot - new starter would be about $530 installed. Today I get a voice mail message from the dealer saying the car is ready - that they put in a new starter but still got the clicking noise, so they put the old starter back in and then replaced the battery and the battery cables, which were "a real bear to run." He said they managed to keep the bill to about the original estimate (sounded proud of himself).

$540 to replace a battery and the battery cables? I'm still in shock.

Ouch!! That's gotta hurt Sad
I know that running all those lines would be a "bear" as he put it but, 540 seems a lil' steep to me. They could have atlest left the new starter in.
