I own a 1997 TL 2.5, and it is driving me batty. Not that I don't love it don't get me wrong, but it does have this cute little habit. Everytime (it seems that way I have yet to define a specific pattern to this) I lock the driver's side door the power door locks start to click in rapid succession. I thought it was just for a few seconds after I lock the doors, but I was informed by my boss that the locks were clicking and I had locked the car about two hours before. It hasn't run down my battery but I am concerned that as my battery starts to go that it will get serious.
For a little background, this car used to be a salesman's car because it has the docking clips for a laptop underneath the glove compartment and it had a fairly expensive hands free cell phone system. The docking station was removed but the hands free was still in operation when I bought the car. I had my Dad remove the system. (Don't freak gentlemen he knew what to pull, he basically rewired a '87 325i BMW with only a few singed fingers) Reason was because living where I was the reception was crappy and I thought this would fix my problem--BOY was I wrong. I notice no difference.
This car being the premium edition, it seemed strange that it did not come with a remote door lock; the acura website and the owners manual are extremely contradictory. The owners manual says that it doesn't but the web site gave the feeling that it did. WELL acura which is it? Also if it helps in this mysterious problem, I had to get rid of the original ignition key, it looked like it had been beaten with a sledge hammer and it wouldn't turn in the ignition-and since I wasn't really all that interested in getting the ignition replaced in this car I don't use it at all. It also seems like I have to hold the key and my tongue and be in the lotus position so the damn alarm won't go off- that is the other problem. The only time the alarm does not go off is that if I hold the key in the unlock position so all the other doors unlock, I also discovered it has nothing to do with child safety locks being on or off--sorry!
Can anyone help me and give me sweet relief from my own alarm system, I have been in the car and have the alarm go off. Or am I doomed?
I know this seems like to put up with a car but I do have to remind that this doesn't happen all the time, but it does seem like that it has increased in frequency within the last couple of months. If you all could give me clues. I think I have given all the info I can, but if you have questions theories or other yoga positions to correct this problem I would really appreciate it.
