Hi, I have a '91 Legend and when I've driven my car for a little while (between 15-45mins) my check engine light comes on. It's not on when I initially turn on the engine or if I drive it for a short distance. What could be the problem? The car has about 225,000 miles on it and it drives very well! That same light came on once before and my mechanic says that it does when it comes to a certain mileage. Would this be a second sign to get another tune-up?
Is it your check engine light or your maintenance required light? Your maintenance required light comes on at certain intervals, but your check engine light only comes on when there is a problem. _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti
Get a $15.00 Acura manuel from the parts store and find where the cars computer is located. I have a 89 model and it is located under the dash on the passengers side(under the carpet). Check your comp. codes and see which code your getting. Mine was doing something simuler to yours and it was the EGR valve. It wouldn't come on at first but after the eng. was hot. Turned out that it had a pin whole in it and replaced it with a $40.00 one form the salvage yard. They are about 180.00 new. The comp. will tell you if its a sencer thats gone bad. There is a list of the codes in the book. Good luck
