Ok a few months ago me and my friend picked her up a 1.8 B18A1 engine 5 speed 1990 Integra LS. When we bought the car we were told it just needed a cluch and a starter witch later we found out the bttm end of the engine was gone. So in that aspect we never knew how the car performed prior and we didnt know what exisiting problems the car may have had if any. Long story short we replaced the engine with a junkyard special with 90,000miles on it with warrenty. Well low and behold we had an irratic idle and intermitant overheating problems. Turned out bad head gasket and low compresssion in cylder 1 due to ring problems. It never leaked or burned collant just had the lopeing problem. So another engine dwn we had that engine replaced and now still havig interminant overheating problems. No smells, No CO2 in the cooling sytem ,perfect compression of 150 in all 4 cylders, waterpump is flowing, 2 new thermostats later (not OEM), and cooling fans are working. When car overheats if heater or A/c is turned on sometimes it cools it off sometimes not. Sometimes accleration can also cool the car dwn. Any Ideas???

replace the radiator it may have a buildup in it of some srot that occasinally blocks the flow of water or flush it with a de-gunker of some sort

Ok so the other day the integra heated up again like it does evey once in a while and the driver my friend tiff felt her top radiator hose which was hot and her bttm one which was not. Im assuming its another faulty thermostat. We went to honda today and picked up a new genuine thermostat and was told by one of the mechanics its a common problem for the aftermarkets to stick every one in a while and to not use them. The thermostat and gasket was only 16.30 including tax out the door which is only a couple more bucks then an aftermarket so well see where it goes. Ill reply if this works in 2 or 3 days to see if this solves the problem

my integra overheated a lot...it kept going through coolant like no other. I took it to the shop a couple of times but they never fixed it. FINALLY, it overheated to the point where i couldnt even drive it anywhere. What happened is i got lots of sand and grit in my water pump and it started to clog it and stuff and it eventually led to to me blowing my head gasket. SUCKS ASS! Well i got a new head gasket replaced, new water pump, and now it works fine
