like the guy in that post, i am also experiencing a loss of power, most noticably at lower rpms. i changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter, but the problem still exists.
after a complete tune-up, nothing has changed. it still bogs and has no pick-up. any other suggestions? my diagnosis is poor throttle response.
Have you checked your air box? I've seen some air boxs that were completely filled with leaves and stuff. Don't ask me how it happened, I have no idea! You may also want to check up on your fuel delivery system. Clogged fuel pumps are fairly common problem, when it comes to those kinda symtomps. _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti
i have an AEM cold air intake, rather than the factory air box. i've read that they decrease horsepower in low RPMs, but increase horsepower in higher RPMs.
i feel the situation is more drastic than a slight decrease in horsepower. at around 3000 RPM in second gear when i punch the gas, my car used to take off into higher RPMs. now its a slow crawl.
as of a few minutes ago, i changed the PCV valve and cleaned the K&N air filter. i've never changed the PCV before, and the old one wasn't clickin'. the new one will work much better, but could it affect this problem? as far as the air filter goes, it has been cleaned roughly five times in the past couple months.
for my fuel system, i use a respectable brand (forgot the name), which was recommened by the fellows at Murrays. it cleans the valves, injectors, and one other component.
any suggestions on cleaning the fuel pump besides replacing it? i don't feel like takin' the gas tank off anytime soon.
