I have an Rsx with a Aem Cai and Cat-back exhaust, which I of course love infinitely. However, my girlfriend just lost her job and I dont have any friggin money for my scheduled maintenance. I do the oil and brakes myself, but am lost when it comes to other engine issues. I fear that problems are piling up faster than I can deal with them, and I have to do some if not all of the work myself asap. The performance has been sluggish for the last couple of weeks and I am puzzled by what it could be. I just did the oil and a rad flush, but I think it is still a heat problem. The air condenser in the front is dented to hell, from god knows what, and this must be suffocating my poor acura engine. Also, I have been hearing a kind of clunk sound when I put it from park to first and am thinking the sluggishness may be transmission related. Is there a way to re-open the slots in the air consender and breath some more life into it? What does everyone think of transmission additives? In addition to the sluggishness is a bit more noise, which is almost disguised by the sweet hum of my exhaust, anyone know anything about valve clearance and adjustment?? I really need some help on this and any advice whatsoever would be very useful to me.
If I ever have money again I am planning on getting an Ecu flash, and a set of 17 or 18 inch wheels with some sticky tires. I would love to get an mp3 player and upgraded sound system, but to me performance is a necessity and audio is more of a luxury.
I live in Canada and I have seen maybe 10 other Rsx's since I purchased my car in 2002, but I have noticed a lot more of them in places like Toronto. Im not upset that many other people have them now, although it may take away from the feeling of originality I have, but it is a beautiful sight to see other people making smart car choices.
As for your sluggish response issue, deal with your maintenance issues first (they may be related). How many miles have you put on her? What maintenance things have you put off doing?
As for your condensor, if its bent, its bent! Trying to bend it straight will only increase the risk of opening it up to a leak, and you don't want that I don't know about tranny additives. Honda/Acura engines are pretty picky when it comes to only getting genuine honda ATF.
Oh, well at least you were one of the first to get one, thats gotta count for something. _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti
I am gettng a new condenser, but wanted to know if I can trust the 'deals' on car parts from online sources. I am guessing that it I can install in myself, and it may be the cause of its performace troubles. My old consender so totally bent to hell, and I am amazed it has gotten so damaged from driving. I see a lot of mesh grilles along the front bumper, now is that just for looks or is it also a form of protection.
