I have a 1991 Acura legend, I love it to death but lately it's been giving me problems starting. Sometimes it will start right up then there's other times where it will not start at all. I've found that if I let it sit for a couple of minutes after it not starting that it starts right back up. I've had my battery checked and they say it's fine. I'm scared it's something serious. What could be the problem? if anyone knows, please help. I'm clueless!

Might be your starter. What's it doing when it doesnt start? Is it turning over? Are the lights coming on?

One minute I'll go and get in it and it starts right up but then when it seems to get warm it won't start. My lights come on fine, the battery was tested and was fine. I wish I could make the noise it gives so you could maybe see what I'm talking about. It's so hard to explain. The only way I can best describe it is you know when you start your car the noise it makes right before it starts? that's what it does. I've been told maybe it is the disturber cab? or like you said maybe it's my starter. Thanks for replying.

If i had to put money on it i'd say your distributor coil or starter.

Good Luck with that

It is your main relay. Until you replace it, you can remedy the problem on hot days by opening all the windows and letting the car ventilate for about 10 seconds. You can read more about the problem on the http://acura-legend.com forums and using the search function.

I hope you have fixed your starting problem by now, i had the same problem that lasted till i did the following. Remove the battery connections and take out the bolt and nut from the clamps. Put a common screwdriver blade in the gap and open the gap up(make the gap bigger) clean the inside of the clamp with either a round file or some kind of scraper so you have shiny metal showing. Before this i had gone to a scrap metal dealer and picked up a couple of strips of copper sheet about 0.040" (1.0mm) thick and the same width as the height as the terminal on the battery and long enough to wrap around the terminal. Clean both sides of the copper sheet and the outside of both terminals in the same way also as otherwise you will never get a proper connection. Before putting everything back together coat all clean surfaces in either vaseline or a dialectric grease and, some anti-seize compound on the nuts and bolts or just plain grease to prevent them from corroding in future. This is what worked for my Legend, good luck
