Hey All,
I just got my '04 RSX, desert metallic silver, and like that McDonald's commercial says, "I'm lovin it!" (2k miles and counting!)
So here's my question: all members who have a sequential sport shift automatic, on any model, how many actually use the manual mode and how often? what do you think about it? for those of you who have driven manuals before, how does this perform in comparison?
i have used the manual mode occasionally, but i must admit, as a person who has only driven a manny trans once (sooooo long ago), i now have a bit of trouble downshifting. i know when to upshift (watching the tach, watching the speed, and listening to the engine) but knowing when to downshift is a bit trickier (um, i've had the car jerk before
) so, any tips? I know if i don't do it on time, the trans will automatically downshift for me, but i feel like that's abusing my sequential sport shift.....any thoughts???

I've driven so many cars with so many different types of trannies. Although I haven't driven the RSX yet, I'm going to venture a guess and assume it is like almost every other production based sequential shifter. I think its a nice feature not as daunting as using a clutch and you still get that added control over your RPMs. It would be nice to have the a sport shifter like the ones in F1 cars, but alas I don't think Acura is going to drop the thousands of dollars it costs to put them in they cars :sigh: Its not as precise as your normal manual but it makes up for it in convenience.
I must say, I really love using a clutch, heel-toe downshifting is the greatest. Personally, I prefer normal manuals, with the exception of truly high end sequential racing shifters. And as for your car jerking problem it is just a matter of time before you get a feel for your car. Give it a little time and pay close enough attention and you'll be rev-matching with the best of em _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti
