Hi, Im sorta new to this message board, been reading it for awhile but never posted yet. I was looking to buy an Acura Integra in the Pittsburgh area but have been having trouble finding one with everything I want in it. Best I can find right now is a 94 Integra LS with an automatic. It's in great shape only 70k miles for 5000 bucks. But I was hoping to get a manual transmission, cause I like the control and power you can get with them. Im new to the modding car deal to and dont know much about car engines besides working in my pap's garage doing body work and small tune ups. Was wondering how hard it would be to take an integra LS and turn it into a 5 speed, not necessarily a V-Tec but something with a manual. Would I have to take out the whole engine or could I just swap the tranny? And what other problems would i have to worry about and what would I have to change around in the car to make it work. Like the dashboard and gear knob need to be changed? If anyone has any links to any sites for detailed instructions that would be great. Or should I just hold out and wait for a GS-R or manual to come my way to make it easier... cause it seems they are hard to find in this area.
Little side story I found a 96 Integra GSR for sale 80k miles 5000 dollars came with a Vortech turbo kit, AEM racing intake, DC racing exhaust system and awesome sound system but they dealership sold it the day before I went down to buy it, even though I told em Id buy it and just had to get the money together. I was quite pissed cause it seemed like an awesome deal.
Hey KnitGnosis.... just thought i'd try to help you out here for a sec. As far as the teg goes, if I were you i'd just wait to get a 5 speed. Doing the swap is really not that big of a deal if you have someone doing it who actually knows what they are doing. I have an AT right now and plan on doing the swap, but really if I could do it all over I would have just waited. As far as the tranny goes, you wouldn't need to replace the whole motor. As long as the tranny is from a B-series motor it should be a fairly easy swap. And you had mentioned that you thought you needed to swap out the dashboard or something and the gear knob?? You actually don't have to swap out the dashboard and the gear knob is really an understatement. LOL. Wow. So many parts, not to mention the pedals and all the cables and crap. I'll find the site and post it in a few for you. Anyway, have you tried looking at www.autotrader.com ?? You should search there for a teg. Usually pretty good deals. Check it out. =)
I would wait and try to find a manual, and if you can find a gsr even better. I live in Orlando and it took me months to find my GSR. Its one hell of a big job to do the swap, something I would try to avoid. Have you tried searching here http://www.all-acura.com/dealers-usedcarquote.html. _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti

Yeah Ive been searching autotrader and autobytel every frickin day, not much posted there though mostly automatic LSes and crap Tegs with 150k miles on it, If Im gonna mod out my car I want it to be at least under 100k miles so I know I can get a good bit of mileage out of it without many problems plus i dont waste 3k on mods to have it break down a month after having it. But Im also debating just setttling with am automatic, I drive one now and its ok but I like the feel of the stick especially when you change gears and you get that little jerk of power its lovely, and its something you dont get with an auto. But then again automatics are easy to drive just plop it in drive and go not having to worry about shifting or remember to shift when you have to. But thanks for the input guys its appreciated.
