|
|
Hi all, just wanted to get an insight on how to fix the falling hatch strut problem. I have a 1991 integra and it has been great to me, except one problem. I have to always use my head or one hand to hold up the trunk when I need to get something in and out, because the hatch strut is not doing it job. I notice that the spoiler has a lot to do with it. I remember taking the spoiler out once, and the hatch strut would hold just fine, but with the spoiler in, it keeping falling every time. The spoiler is a standard size spoiler that comes with most integra you see. It came with mine when I first bought the car. Just wondering if replacing the hatch strut with an after market one would help solving the problem. I'm getting tire of getting bump in the head whenever I use the trunk. I would like to keep in the spoiler installed, since removing it would leave holes on the trunk.
Any insight is appreciate it.....thanks. |

I did replaced the strut with another used one. It holds for about a month or so, and after that it started to fall again. Does anybody know if there's a stronger type of hatch strut that would fit 91 integra? Funny thing is, the strut will hold when the temperature is really hot. During the winter, it will just fall. |

Where do u live? Sounds like in the summer the shaft expands creating more pressure which helps hold it up and vice versa in the winter. _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti |

Sounds like you should just buy new ones instead of used ones. That may help, since you don't know how long the other ones where used for before you got them. _________________ DC4's are the shizzle!!

I live in northern California. I guess it's a normal behavior for any hydraulic to expand at high temperature. I guess all I need is a pair of hydraulic that's strong enough to hold during the winter huh. |
