Just bought this car today with this problem. When given anything over minimal throttle the car feels like it's running on 3 cylinders at anything under 2400 RPM then it just takes off.
One tech said the cam belt might be off by one tooth. Another said the ignition wires must be crappy even though they're only 6 months old and that I should switch them for NGKs. I have a service record indicating new wires, new cap and rotor done 6 months ago.
