Sad
Background
A recently purchased 1988 Acura Integra LE works fine, except the 4-way emergency flashers do not work. I need to get them working for the state inspection.

The flasher unit on the fuse pannel seems to serve both the 4-way flashers and the turn signals.

All lamps are fine, and I even cleaned out the lamp sockets to be safe.

Questions
1. Is it possible for the fuse pannel flasher unit to be bad in a way that
allows turn signals to work but causes flashers to fail?

2. What would I look for if I tested the 4-way switch on the steering column (what should change as I slide the switch.)

3. What voltages should I see on the connector to the switch if the electricty to the switch is goodz?

4. Any other ideas on what can cause the failure? There is an after market alarm on the car, and when it sounds the lights flash.

Ohh, i hate electrical problems they are always a pain! So when u activate ur' alarm, do all of your blinkers flash?

As for your 1st question, i severly doubt it (a switch is a switch, it either works or it doesn't). if all the fuses and lamps are ok you should try checking the Hazard warning switch. To do that
    1. disconnect the 10-P connector from the swithch
    2. Just check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position

If that doesn't work try looking for open or broken wires. It could be that the alarm was not installed properly, that has happened to me, and it cost me a new computer Sad but thats another story. If the switch tests out ok then your alarm wiring is probably the problem. Look for any wires that look like they might be bypassing the wires coming from the switch.

Have you checked the 10amp fuse right at the postive battery cable connector? If that is blown everythying will work, execpt the four way flasher system.
