You would have to run pretty rich for that to work, which is not good for your engine. Thats why u don't see that very often on real cars. Besides correct me if i'm wrong but weren't those flames added digitally?

Oh... i'm not saying it can't be done. It can and has been done!

Personally i just don't think its worth it to start f*@king with fuel injection motor like that. Those old school carbureatored hot rods started the flame from the tail pipe. You would have to run so rich that fuel is getting shot out your tailpipe and hook up a spark plug to your tailpipe to get those flames. Its just not worth the money and headaches in my opinion.

There are kits you can buy that are the tip spark and bypass switch. They can look pretty cool, but there not as big of flames as your hopping for. another thing there illegal in most states.

I doubt Those effects were added in digitally cuz i watched the making of fast and furious.

Anyway when you see flames shooting out of the exaust on a car (you almost don't see it at all now cuz of computers) it's because of a misfire in the cylinder. It's not a good thing. What causes the fire is the exaust valve being open at the same time the fuel in the cylinder is ignited. So you pretty much get to see what's happening inside your cylinder coming out of your muffler.

you can definitely get it done. i've seen west coast customs hook up a car with it. definitely a "show" item - not street legal. if you do a lot of shows, i'd say go for it. but, it's not really a preactical application for the street. take the $$ and sink it into something else if you're on the street only.

For starters, 2slow2horrible was a lame movie, moving on...
Run a T from your fuel line to your exhaust tip, and tap into one of your plug wires to it as well..... Tada!! instant flame kit. (was gonna do it to my '63 chevy 1/2 ton when I was younger) As for being legal.... well I wouldn't get caught w/ one. And you'll get horrible fuel economy.

Nope, did you see the SCC write up on those cars? Crap. The only one that was worth anything in real life was the pink S2K. Even the Supra and the Skyline were beat to crap. It was a sad wasted couple of hours..... good thing was that I didn't have to pay to see it!!!! Very Happy

I agree, that movie was crappy... i thought the cheesy computer effects made it worse... i like the original fast and the furious better.... seemed more real even tho both movies weren't great

to really spit flames without mess'n up ur engine, ur gonna need to redo ur whole fuel system, get new rails, pumps, injectors, etc. then u gotta get a s-afc, which u program so that ur engine runs really rich, but only when u wanna spit flames. at this point, u have to options. u can leave the cat on or take it off. takin it off will have slightly better results and it wont mess up the cat. now, ur gonna have to run ur engine for a while. leve it in neutral or somtin and rev it. keep the revvs at around 5000 or higher for at least 5 minutes. that should get ur exaust hot enough to ignite the leftover fuel bein spat out by ur engine. altogether, the get decent results, ur gonna have to spend around $600-$800 plus the cost of a new cat if u leave it on while spittin.
