i bought my car with SRS ligth on, and then the concecinair did a reset on the airbag system... the ligth went off.. this was like.. 2months ago.. yesterday i was playing with my alarm system (programmation).. and then the ligth went on again and still on ! is there someone who has an idea ? .. the concionarie told me if the ligth will go on again. bring the car and we will replace the srs system.. (1200$$) whole system ! pfff for a simple ligth.. any way.. if someone know something im waiting for u thx ..

Je suis desole, mon francais n'est pas tres bien. I have to do this in english. Anyways, why was the SRS light on in the 1st place?

AcuraImport ... euh concecinaire.. i means the dealer lol..
why was the srs light on... well i bought the car with srs light on... 2weeks later the check engine went on too.. i brough the car to the acura dealer. they fixed the check engine pb.. but for the srs light they didn't do something.. they have just reset something.. (i think u guyz call it 'ecu' i have no idea of what is it).. anyway they told me if the light will turn on again .. bring us the car and we will replace all the srs system ! (pfff 1200$ for a simple ligth).. well.. the light didn,t turn on untill i have touched the programmation of my alarm system... i did a reset on my alarm (by pressing the Program bouton on the antenna) i was trying to program the shock sensor too.. any way . by all theses operations . the srs light went on ! : ( ah by the way i have installed my sound system too.. no light went on (i deplugged the batterie too) .. a guy in this site said to another persn that the way to reset the 'ecu' was to remove the 7.5A fuse under the hood.. (he said it was the back-up fuse) i did that.. i saw a 7.5A but the light didn,t went off (maybe its the wrong fuse) (that was for an aucra 3.5RL, mine is teg96RS) .. .. is there another way to reset the 'ecu' ?.. well thats it.. if u can give me an idea of my pb i will appreciate that : ) (anything u know!) thx .. and take care.. peace (is my pb clear now for u ? : P)

| ah.. the acura dealer has reset the srs system (or ecu.. dunno if im talking about the same thing) twice... the first was when i brough the car for the 'check engine' light and 'srs light' .. the seconde time was when the alarm sys dealer installed the alarm sys.. the light went on again.. my father brough the car at the acura dealer.. they did the reset and told him to bring it again if the light will turn on (1200$ for replacing all the srs sys lol) |

Anyways, Your ECU is the computer that controls and monitors most everything on your car. The guys over at superhonda are talking about reseting the light when there isn't anything wrong with your SRS. You might have messed something up when your were programming your alarm there is no way for me to know. But your SRS light would wait 2 months to come back on if there was something wrong. So you might just need to reset the light.
If you want to try that reset procedure you can. However there is always a risk of it exploding. To avoid accidental deployment, disconnect the driver's and front passanger's airbag connectors (automatically shorted) before working near any SRS wiring.
If it just needs to be reset then reseting it will fix your problem but if not the SRS light will stay on. There is a number of things that it could be.
I could give you the diagonistic proceedure if your can tell me what DTC code you have stored (it should be something like 8-5). There are a number of things that could be wrong and it requires a special indicator to get the DTC code. Your Dealer would be able to tell you what's wrong (findout the DTC). They usually charge alot, but you might get lucky.
NOTE: Whenever the ignition switch is on, or has been turned OFF for less than 3 minutes be careful not to bump the SRS unit. It could accidentally deploy.

hey AcuraImport.. i just bring my car to the acura dealer for reseting the light (raison of it going on is that i have touched the alarm programmation bouton) .. i got a code now! it's 05-4 .. do u have an idea of what is it ??? they said SRS Unit faillure (something like that) ! and to replace it will cost 1200$! ... tomorrow im going to the alarm installer and im gonna program like i want ! shock sensor etc... and we will see if the SRS will turn on again...
by the way the very first time when they reset the SRS was when i got the check engine light on too .. they fixed that (check engine).. but for the SRS they found nothing and no code... the 05-4 code is found when the alarm was installed and the light went on... which is the same code as when i touched the programmation bouton a week ago..... well tell me what do u think and thx for all ur help... peace man [/list] |
