Hello I was wondering if someone could tell me if what I heard is correct. I have a 91 Integra LS and am having problems with it. When I put it into Park it revs up and down between 1-3 (rpms) for like a minute before it "clicks" into park and I can turn the car off and take the key out of the ignition. Someone told me that this is because 91 Integras were never meant to be driven in Drive, but in S3 in the city and S4 on the highway. Can someone tell me what might be wrong with my car and if this is true?
I've never heard of that. But, you gotta ask yourself... if Acura never intended for you to use drive, why would they put it on the car! Common sense tells me that that isn't true.
As for your reving problem, check your MAP sensor, thats the most common cause of your symptom. Also check to see if you have any DTC codes (is your check engine light on?) _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti

Talk about spooky, I too have an AT '91 Integra and the symptoms you describe are a carbon copy of the ones I joined this forum to post.
I have no check engine light, Park pops on when it wants too, and I have to leave the key in it when I dont want to.
I have noticed that the ground to my chassis is freyed.... I thought that might be the idle problem, I have no idea what the parking thing is tho, I have noticed that its less problematic when the car is warm.
Nah, this is the only forum i really go to and thats just recently....
I'm gonna try to get to fixing that ground wire tomorrow, if that helps I'll post the results. Otherwise, if its too cold tonite, someone might find a free car.
here in canada it gets really cold too .. so I've seen my '90 teg do some funky stuff.
Sometimes I have to whack the right side of my shifter console (automatic) to get the key to release from the column. (where a passenger's left knee would meet the console) There are a series of contacts/switches in the gear selector essembly which I'm presuming rely on grease for lubrication. The grease solidifies in the cold, and sometimes the gear indicator dashlights take a while to change ,etc. So this is the direction I'm gonna go in with this issue. I
