I have an '88 LS (standard), which I took into a shoddy mechanic's yesterday to have the water pump replaced, as the vehicle was running hot. They changed the water pump and the timing belt. When I picked up the car and started it, it idled very low, then searched a bit, and then settled somewhat when the car was warm. More importantly, I'm not getting sufficient power at low RPMs, so getting the car moving from a stop is very difficult, no matter how much gas is given. At high RPMs, it seems better. Could this be caused by a poor timing belt change?
Any suggestions? I need help quickly, so please offer any you might have. Thanks.
How low is it idling? How significant of a power loss is it? _________________ If you feel like you're in control, you're not going fast enough. ~ Mario Andretti
