I just had my exhaust manifold replaced on my 98 2.5TL, and less than a week later, the secondary O2 sensor has failed. I think that it was the dealer's fault, because the primary and secondary sensors can sometimes be damaged when an operation like this occurs. Basically I am looking for some additional information that can back me up on this. If anyone has any suggestions, I would welcome them. Let me know if you agree with me. This is the secondary O2 sensor that is in/near the Catalytic convertor. Couldn't this also be damaged if they got some dirt or something inside the engine while replacing the headers?
thanks
James

First off was it the dealer who put in the new manifold and was it an OEM part? B/c if it was that should fall under warrenty, for service related problems. How did you know that it was the secondary O2 sensor that failed, did you get and ECM Code?

I am no expert on the matter but it sounds like you have a fairly stong case for "technician error," but i could be wrong. What about your other O2 sensors what are they doing?
